Qkumba Zoo is the brainchild of Owl and Levannah,

About Qkumba Zoo: Natives of Johannesburg, South Africa, Owl and Levannah birthed their musical adventure in 1994 on a single keyboard with big dreams.

They were picked up by David Gresham records, the largest independent record label in South Africa at the time, who guided them through the recording of their first album “Wake Up & Dream” and towards Arista under the watchful eye of Clive Davis. In 1996, they won the title of Newcomer of the Year at the 2nd South African Music Awards (SAMAS), The song “The Child (Inside)” was released at the end of 1996 worldwide on the Arista label and went to No.1 on the South African charts, the Billboard Dance Charts, November 1996 (U.S.) and reached 69 on the Billboard hot 100.

They released a second album in 2001 titled “Butterfly Peepl”, which was remastered/re-released as “Letthelightin” by Sovereign Records in the USA in 2011.

Fast forwarding to today, the band finds themselves perhaps a little wiser, definitely more reclusive, but still wanting to indulge in their creativity by releasing the occasional song that hopefully, people like you will enjoy. Learn more about Qkumba Zoo

Owl

Owl provides much of the music that supports Levannah's soaring vocals. He is her "producer".

Levannah

Famous? I don’t know about that. It’s hard to be famous and alive. I just want to play music every day.
